A New Generation of Art

Despite how much criticism the internet receives, everyone, even if unintentionally, utilizes the internet. The internet has opened many doors to create new genres of literature and arts. For example, Instagram poetry. Because of the internet, poets such as R.M. Drake, R.h. Sin, and Samantha.King.Holmes have been able to share their works to a wider audience and make their form of poetry a popular genre. People such as Lindsay Saienni make the claim that this is a part of the downfall of the internet. Even if their poetry isn’t as “complex” as classical poetry (to her standards), it is still a whole new genre that the internet has allowed to flourish.

Instagram poetry is just one of many examples of the power of the internet to enable artists to create something new and unique and share it with people all over the world. New advancements in art and literature will continue to emerge as a world with internet goes on. “Normal” people will continue to scroll through the internet and find things that inspire them to create something new and phenomenal and become the next generation of influential artists. The fact that our generation has allowed such a large, creative space to thrive will continue to prove how “scrolling aimlessly” on the internet is just our generation’s version of looking at art galleries, visiting historical museums, or even researching at a library. We have been given the magic of doing all those things that can expand knowledge and creativity in the comfort of our own homes. We can look at our inspirations and create all at once. The internet is magical and instead of rejecting the enormous amount of opportunities it allows us, we need to embrace it and the age we live in.
