Make-Up Work
Work may be made up for approved absences on a case-by-case basis. Consultation with your professor must be made in person before assignment due dates.
Email
Important announcements will be delivered by e-mail. You are responsible for checking your email on a twice-daily basis so that you stay up-to-date on all information relevant to this course. You should follow up any important oral communication with your instructors with e-mail. All e-mail correspondence between instructor and student must be conducted in a professional manner. Visit the IT Help Desk if you need email help.
Technology in Class
In order to ensure a productive learning environment, you are required to turn off or set your personal communication device to silent during class time. Use of smart phones, tablets, or laptops is not allowed during classes unless such use supports class activities. If it becomes apparent you are using the computer for non-class activities (checking your email, playing games, looking at Facebook, etc.) then you will be asked to turn off your computer and refrain from bringing it to class in the future. All content displayed on devices while in the classroom must be appropriate for the academic setting.
Academic Integrity
The University considers both cheating and plagiarism serious offenses. The minimum penalty for a student responsible of either dishonest act is a grade of “zero” for the assignment in question. The maximum penalty is dismissal from the University. The complete policy may be found in the UL Lafayette undergraduate catalog.
Safety and Emergency
A map of this floor is posted near the elevator marking the evacuation route and Designated Rescue Area. This is an area where emergency service personnel will go first to look for individuals who need assistance in exiting the building. The Office of Environmental Health & Safety also has maps of Code Blue Locations.
Reasonable Accommodation
Disability Accommodations: Students needing academic accommodations for a disability must first be registered with the Office of Disability Services (ODS) to verify the disability and to establish eligibility for accommodations. Students may call 337-482-5252 or visit the ODS office in the Conference Center, room 126. Once registered, students should then schedule an appointment with the professor to make appropriate arrangements.
Discrimination and Harassment
This class will not tolerate discrimination on the basis of race, color, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, sex, marital status, disability, or status as a veteran. Alternative viewpoints are welcome; however, statements that are deemed racist, sexist, homophobic, classist, or otherwise discriminatory toward others in the class or outside the class will result in dismissal. Students will be respectful and courteous to each other and to the instructors—in written, oral, and nonverbal communication, both in and out of class.
