Personally, I believe that the internet is an amazing source of education and adventure. Technology has only made the world today better and functioning more efficiently. Therefore, I am pro-tech in this instance because writing poems on the internet rather then on paper or in a book of some sort does not make it any less of an artwork. Yes, maybe their work posted on Instagram and Twitter may not be as profound as Shakespeare was, but their work is still art and it can still be beautiful. As Brett Easton Ellis said, “You just have to move with the culture…” WE are now in 2019, the fact that entire books can be read from an iPhone or iPad proves the fact that literature is not limited to print text. Furthermore, some of these poets showcasing their work on Instagram have also written their own books. When Lindsay Saienni said, “Is this what modern poetry is becoming?”, she was in fact correct. Some of modern poetry is entering the technological world. I find nothing wrong with that, artwork is artwork. Some people have a more creative mindset then others and just because R.M. Drake and R.H. Sin thought of using Instagram, does not make them any less than anyone else. Most millennials will turn to social media, before they turn to read a book. Technology is the new day and age; therefore, I think posting and promoting artwork on social media is very intelligent of these writers. I think their work will only blossom from here and their popularity will continue to grow.
