Time to Adapt Forward

Isn’t it almost contradictory that people who believe technology is “poisoning” our upcoming generation also use it just as often if not more than millennials?  A lot of this has to do with the perspective one has of another’s use of technology, more often than not believing that using it is a waste of time that can be used towards doing something productive.  What many individuals fail to realize or accept is that those who use technology on a consistent basis are more than likely being productive, depending on what one’s perspective on productivity is.

Would one consider a person who is reading a book or newspaper as being more productive than a person who is reading a blog or post on a tablet?  It could be similar content, just put out differently.  Technology has somewhat taken over the everyday lives of individuals.  Most that I know must have it or can’t live without it they say.  I believe that with the way technology has advanced and integrated itself into society, we honestly can’t live without it to be productive.  Emails, blogs, social media, music, anything you can think of is run through technology and the internet.

We must adapt to the technology that’s made available to us in order to be productive today, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that we change the way we interact with other individuals.  In fact, one could argue that we interact more through technology now with platforms such as social media.  I believe Kenneth Goldsmith would agree that we all have platforms to be interactive and productive; technology just gives us more opportunities to do that.
