There are many positives to each side both pro tech and pro print, but I have to take a stand as pro tech. I gave grown up in the age of the internet so since that is the case, I will have to lean towards technology over paper. There are several reasons that I chose this side and they all fall under the idea that the internet makes everything easier. You no longer have to go to the store or wait for your book to come via mail in order to begin reading. Another reason that technology is superior to paper is that there are no trees involved or manufacturing of books. Technology allows the reader to purchase a novel and begin reading that book instantly via kindle or eBook. This class for example requires the purchase of several books via kindle and that allows the class to instantly begin reading after purchase.
Bret Easton Ellis provided insight about how he was pro tech and that though he was older, he still thought that the internet was the way to go. He stated that the world is headed towards an online only direction where everything will be online, and paper will eventually become a thing of the past. If that is the case, then we should begin to familiarize ourselves with reading and doing all our paper-based activities online, so we can become accustomed to the online space.
