School? Reading? Yuck! These words are often associated with learning in school in countries where books and internet have evolved side by side. No matter the age, people associate reading as boring and would rather do anything than pick up a book for school or let alone read when a game or a social event is going on. However, what if we didn’t have the freedom of free education. What if our education and literacy rates were determined based on our religion, skin color, or race?

Around the world education is not equal. In third world countries women still do not have equal literacy rates as men because they are not permitted to go to school and learn. This is due to several factors such as war, crime, or in some cases unequal gender rights. According to the World Atlas , South Sudan only has a 27% literacy rate. The graph below shows the rate of access to computers either at home and at school for certain races here in America. as of 2015.

But with the trend of an increase availability of technologies such as computers and phones, the increase rates of education and literacy rates will reach every corner of the world. The future is when every single person has access to the internet and can learn how they want no matter who they are or where they are from.

Looking at the book UR by Stephen King, the introduction of the Amazon Kindle in this novella wasa rise of a new form of reading and gaining access of endless reading materials from around the world. Yet imagine if everyone had a kindle! What if they were not a luxury but rather a universal norm.
