In the age of ever-growing technology, of course the internet is going to affect almost everything people do. The internet greatly influences schooling all over the world and how we perceive and consume literature. Nevertheless, is this a good or bad thing? Is the internet literary? That depends on who you’re asking. Coming from me, a college student, I use technology and the internet in an educational setting daily.

The internet is an extremely necessary asset to literature and scholarly information ingestion, including that many college professors assign online textbooks rather than physical. I think this is significant because it not only aids broke college kids in cheaper books, but also makes it much easier to access the books on your electronics such as your phone, laptop, or kindle (like in Stephen King’s novella UR).

Even though online information is convenient, of course you’re always bound to forget to charge your laptop one day or the internet won’t be working. All the same though, even if your textbook isn’t online, you can still forget it at your house one day. There are pros and cons to everything! Many people who only see the negatives in technology struggle to comprehend if the internet is even capable of portraying literature or scholarly material effectively. My grandma was extremely shocked when I told her my homework could be read, turned in, graded, and returned all in a matter of minutes online!

The future of how the technology and the internet is used is bound to advance to levels most of us can’t even conceive now. Who knows, we may have holographic books in the future! Schools might even cut out certain literature in attempts to simplify learning in the online setting for students. Only time will tell. For now, my online books are my best friends for an easier and cheaper college experience.
