Information Age

Internet-enabled digital technologies have been advancing greatly since it first was created. The new age of technology available has taken over how we are learning today. In schools all around, technology is where you can get in touch with many of the resources. In the Stephen King’s novella UR and Maria Cecire’s “Massively Open” they both showcase the use of technology becoming such a huge thing in schools today. UR was around the time of the Kindle so there was a transition between paper books to the Kindles. The main character, Wesley, was on the fence as to whether he hated the idea or loved it. In “Massively Open,” Zoe is an online teacher explaining how an online education can be less beneficial. She says students are becoming less engaged with others.

Some can view technology advancements as a good move or bad. It all depends on the person’s preferences. Having books and information at the touch of your fingertips however sounds really convenient. According to Nicholas Delzotto’s “How Has Internet Changed Education?” he states how educational opportunities for underprivileged and geographically isolated students have also grown as a result of the Internet. Due to the Internet, more people are engaging in getting an education and that says a lot.
