Why the Internet is Changing How We Learn

In school, it has become normal for everyone to have laptops and use them to do assignments and study. It’s now almost impossible to succeed in college without the Internet. Even without immediate access laptop, students must find a way online.

In Maria Cecire’s Massively Open, we are given a glimpse of a not-so-distant future where the only affordable and realistic option for an average person to attend college is online. This story shows us how many things may change over the course of the years due to new and improving technology, but it also shows how it could stay the same in some aspects. Though this is not our normal today, we are heavily reliant on our laptops, and it is not hard to believe that this type of education is in our future.

Though not everything is online, it is safe to say technology has changed the way we learn. At the end of the day, the resources we are now provided with have become so convenient it’s hard to not use them for everything. In the article How Technology has Changed Education and Will Keep Changing It, it states how these changes have taken educational tools to a whole new level. We can learn anything at any time no matter where we are. Of course, no matter how good technology gets, we can never replace the physical interaction between a teacher and their student, but we can make getting an education much easier.

In general, new technology has made everything more convenient. Now, instead of carrying around big textbooks, they’re all on our laptop. If we hare typing an essay and make a mistake, it is simple to fix it. No matter where we are, we can look up anything we’re unsure of. We have the world right in our pocket, so of course it has changed the way we learn everything, and it will continue to change as technology advances.
