Oops, I’m Old School?

Personally, I don’t think the internet has changed the way I write very much. Taking notes on my computer or putting my calendar in my phone aren’t common practices for me. The way I learn and organize myself is by writing things down.

My planner that keeps my whole life organized, from school to sorority things to other events. Writing things down is my way of remembering things and staying organized in my thoughts. The only thing I utilize my laptop for in this sense would be making a to do list. In the top corner of my desktop I use the sticky notes function to keep track of everything I need to do in each class daily or weekly. This helps me stay on task and prioritize my assignments/studying. I also tend to color code everything I put down in my planner so that it is not only organized by type of event or class but also visually pleasing.

If I took notes on my laptop it would be much more time consuming to try to color code things while still learning the material. For my history class this semester I have been typing my notes in class, but I still find myself going home and writing them in my notebook in order to retain the information. While typing is sometimes convenient and can be quicker in class it just is not for me.

A popular trend today deals with lettering and bullet journals. A satisfying way of being organized and making your own to do lists, goals, planner or just simply doodling words in cursive. I sometimes do this too; it can be very relaxing for me and not something as easy achieved while typing on a computer. Something about writing is much more fulfilling for me than typing, I am much more focused and appeased.
