Over the years, technology has completely changed the way our society learns, functions, and communicates. All throughout elementary/middle/junior high school, technology was not really that relevant to my learning experiences. All of the homework that we did was done by paper and a pencil. Class discussion were used on a Promethean Board or an Elmo Projector. However, once I entered high school, things changed.
Teachers relied on the technology that the school provided in order to teach their students day by day. Yet, students were not allowed to bring their computer devices for the sole purpose of doing schoolwork, at least at my school. Other high schools in my area were different.
Once I started my freshman year of college, everything was even more technologically advanced. Students are able to bring any device to class that is able to take notes. Professors absolutely rely on technology. If the Internet on campus is not working properly, some professors will cancel class and tell you to review the material on your own time. If the professors do not have access to the Internet, then they do not have access to Moodle. Moodle is what the majority of the professors keep their PowerPoints and class notes on.
While there is a lot of students in each of my classes taking notes on their computer, I prefer to handwrite my notes. Writing my notes manually allows me to write the notes while being able to understand what I am taking notes on.

In my opinion, typing your notes does not allow you to have that maximum potential of absorbing the information that you are typing. Many people type their notes in class, leave the class, and then have no idea what they just took notes on 10 minutes ago. I do not believe that–even though our society is so technologically advanced–the way I take notes has changed.
While being more technology-based in school is more convenient, manually writing your notes is more beneficial with learning what you are putting down.
