Making Plans?

Everyone texts and messages differently based on who they are talking to. I almost always refer to my friends as “bro” “dude” and other slang like that, but I would never call my mom or dad that. Texting is the same way. Since texting is just another form of communication, people are obviously going to text their friends differently from their parents or bosses. Below is an example of how I make plans with my mom. The texts are very short and mundane, with almost no slang or vulgar language. The texts are nothing crazy, and there are no weird gifs or memes either. The emojis I send to my mom are usually little hearts, or sweet things. When it comes to my friends, however, is usually very different.

This kind of texting is very dry and different from how I would text a friend to make plans. Everything in the text to my mom is spelled correctly, and easy to read. If i was to text a friend to make plans, I might be a lot more sarcastic and use a lot more slang. Below is an example of my friend asking for a ride to a football game. In this text, I am a lot more sarcastic and laid-back than the one to my mom. Their is a lot more banter than the very mundane one to my mother. I would never be this much of a smart-ass to either of my parents, but my friends always take my humor and just give me more sass than I did. In the text with my friend she meets my sarcasm with just as much sass as I was giving.

Most of my friends and students I have talked to are also the same way. They are a lot more formal with their parents or family members than they are with me or texting other students and friends. A text to my boss might be something just about scheduling and when and what times I would not be able to work, while at the same time I am sending my friend some dumb video I found on Instagram.
