I have never taken notes on my laptop, so the internet really hasn’t affected how I take notes. I personally feel that I just understand the material better by handwriting all my notes. It definitely makes me slower than someone who is typing their notes, but I just feel like I am learning it better by writing them. I say it in my head while I’m writing it as a little review of what we are going over in class.  Studies have even shown that handwriting your notes is better for your brain to understand the material. I also like handwriting my notes because it will never give me a technology problem. Sometimes technology always doesn’t work, and things do not get saved and all your notes are gone in just a second!! I cannot have that because it will stress me out. It also depends on the classes I am taking notes in.

For example, in my Criminal Justice class, my professor has powerpoints and flies through them, so I have to take notes of the most important information before he moves on to the next one. As for my Spanish class I barely take any notes, because I know it and I am fluent.

As for giving myself reminders that I need to go somewhere or do some school work by certain time, I need to put it on my phone, I cannot write it down. I pretty much have my phone on me at all times, so when I set reminders, they really help me get things done when they need to be completed. I know it is pretty weird how I like all my school work written and other things I trust technology with. I have always just done that since I can remember.

My writing varies on how important it is to me, like if I am texting my boss I am very formal and make sure I spell everything correctly, but if I am just texting one of good friends I don’t really care how I’m talking as long as I get my point across to what I need to say to them. I think we all do this in our writing, we take our time writing for the things that are most important and give less effort to things that do not really matter to us.
