Flowers, presents, and jewelry. Those are just a couple of things that most girls “expect” in a relationship. In an article by Huffpost, Catherine Pearson talks about how this makes them seem very materialistic, which can affect them greatly in the long run. On the other hand, the Odyssey has an article that talks about how some girls are not materialistic and want other things like attention, loyalty, trust, and affection. Social media, Instagram and Twitter, especially, is a place where most people get ideas for their relationships from.
Social media has a huge impact on how relationships should be and what people should expect to get out of them, especially Instagram. Influencer couples make relationships seem like they are all fun and games because they just show them exchanging gifts or traveling around the world. People don’t always get to see the realistic or rough parts in their relationships, because the influencers tend to hide that content from their followers.

The Internet has taught me a good bit about relationship and sexuality. A couple of things that it has taught me is what I do want in a relationship, what I do not want in a relationship. It also taught me the simple things you do for your partner in a relationship can possibly make their day 100 times better.

These are things that I have always thought about because it means a lot, I do not believe that relationships should just be buying each other gifts. A present every now and then is nice because it could be something that makes you think of the other person. For example, some girls are like Ana from “Fifty Shades of Grey” and might not want a gift all the time or things that are insanely expensive. A good relationship is about good communication.
