Most things in today’s world revolve around sex whether its intentional or unintentional. Sex is just something living beings consistently think about. It is something that gives us both physical and emotional pleasure while also connecting us to another person. Sex is how we reproduce and keep our species alive. Sex is inevitable. Living in the age of the internet makes sex an even harder thing to avoid. Younger and younger kids are finding out more and more about sex without really being taught it. Social media sites such as tumblr, twitter, and instagram are all based around personal posts people make giving insight to their own personal experience with sex. This can be both advantageous and disadvantageous for kids that are beginning to learn about their sexuality and the intricacies of love and lust.

Having exposure to many different perspectives is great regarding the fact that everyone’s sexual history and preferences are unique. Learning about the beautiful array of the sexual spectrum is great because the more you know about the complexity of sexuality that exists all over the world, the easier it may be to learn about your own sexuality. Having exposure to sex on the internet should not be a bad thing. Not too long ago, sex talk was taboo. There are many people alive today that grew up not being able to openly talk about sex. As previously said, sex is such a significant part of human existence that is should not be considered taboo to be able to openly talk about it.
On the other hand, people will run into content that they do not want to see pertaining to sex. Especially for kids. Kids learning about sex on the internet should not be the first they are learning about it and they should learn how to safely have sex before they have sex. Sex can be emotionally and physically damaging that can’t be taught through tweets and gifs. It needs to be taught through conversation with people like your parents.
The internet is one huge step for making sex a normal topic to talk about. Curiosity about sex should not be shamed, but embraced. However, the internet should just make sex an easier topic to talk about and not the main source of knowledge for youngins learning about it.
