Can’t express yourself with words? Use a GIF! GIF are readily incorporated into today’s communication and humor. A GIF poem or novel, such as Dennis Coopers’, Zac’s Freight Elevator, is a new, yet creative, concept to me. Writing my own GIF poem was a fun challenge. I decided to write a poem composed of one stanza containing seven couplets. The poem includes my version of GIF meter and rhyme. The poem is a sequence of common emotions felt by humans daily. Each couplet represents a different emotion, with the first GIF acting as a symbol and the second GIF as popular person in media. The two I created are the fourth and eighth GIFs. Also, one of my goals was to show how versatile Gifs are. They can be used for intense purposes, as well as humor and fun. I believe the appeal for GIF’s continues to grow because they can take the place of words and emotions in an aesthetically pleasing way, sometimes better than words.
