My poem is framed on the haiku format, following the 5-7-5 syllable sequence. In this case, however, instead of syllables I’ll be using the individual gifs as a representation. The premise of my poem is based off my ongoing three year wattpad novel, Complicated. Now you may ask, “Dre, why choose a haiku?”. Haiku’s are known traditionally to be about nature; bees, trees, and everything in between. However, my poem is more about the nature of people; their thoughts, urges, and behavior patterns.
Complicated is a tale of a group of friends from college depicting the experiences and actions that, for a lack of a better term, “complicates” these relationships. Being that this is ‘loosely’ based off actual events in my life, the project is a constant work in progress. This GIF poem illustrates the interactions in chapters two, three, and four involving five of the main characters. Essentially two friends, Bryan and Quincy are walking through the mall, unbeknownst to them they are being watched. Ironically the person who is watching them is unaware that she herself is a pawn in a larger scheme, which of course, becomes complicated. People meet, things happened, people get found out.. I don’t want to spoil anything and I’ve already said too much. The novel is quite NSFW in nature, but a good read nevertheless. Enjoy
