The internet tells us everyday how we should look and dress. It shows us that the better we look the more likes and followers we will get on our posts and pages. It is even starting at a younger age now. I can remember when I was younger most of my friends and class did not wear make-up or wear name brand clothes. A lot of younger girls now are caught up in having their hair and make-up done and they can only have the best and name brand clothes. This is mainly because of children having technology at younger ages, so they are exposed to things much sooner in life. You see it all the time on Instagram and all over the internet and magazines. There are countless numbers of beauty gurus and people that are putting the standard for what girls should look and dress like. Most girls on Instagram post the most glamorous portraits of themselves, and always have on a full face of make up with extravagant clothes. Take for example, the Kardshians. They are a very wealthy family that only ever post the most glamorous pictures of themselves on social media. This puts the idea in peoples minds that you have to be extremely glamorous and have the most extravagant clothes, jewelry and make-up to be seen as beautiful.

All of the times in magazines they will put pictures bashing other celebrities or people as “hot” or “not.” They compare what was in and what was not considered in style anymore. This could put you down because if you did not have the new trend you might fell less than or not good enough. This can cause self-esteem problems especially in young girls. Some families cannot afford high-end clothes and name brand items. Girls who grow up seeing all these glamorous people who are seen as so beautiful, might feel less than because they do not look or dress like them. Famous people on social media, and everyone only show their the best side. They make their everyday life look incredible and like they have no problems. The Kardashians are another example for this. This family goes on crazy vacations all of the time and their “social media” life makes them look like life is just effortless.
