I hate the Internet by Jarett Kobek writes a very interesting novel. It is based on a woman named Adeline, who writes comic books for a living. She is not afraid of what she puts out there, even if it is very controversial to the society. Adeline gets hate comments and death threats because of video where she speaks about Rihanna and Beyoncé. The rest of the novel she spends her time trying to fix the situation that she had made. This novel bases on real world problems and events that happen today in our society and the internet.

Reading this novel, it was definitely not my favorite at all. I felt like it was all over the place and just a hard story to read. It was very confusing at times and sometimes I had no idea what he was trying to say. This novel was very hard to finish, and I literally had to force myself to finish reading it. I like a novel that just flows, and this definitely did not flow at all. Even though it does show that you need to watch what you say on the internet because it really never goes away. Also just be careful what you say in public period because you never know who is watching and recording, like what happened to Adeline and her rant.

Overall, I hated reading this book, but it did a few good topics that he talks about. In the ending of chapter one he says, “’Slut’ is one of the hundreds of derogatory English terms for women. These terms attach importance to the number of a woman’s sexual partners. There are no equivalent terms for men, which is some straight up bullshit.” I totally agree with this because it is always women that get called hoe, and slut but never a man, which they are equally accountable and even more for that type of behavior. Which I don’t agree the word should be used at all to define a man or a woman because that is their business and their business only if that is what they want to do. Who are we to judge someone else’s life decisions. So with that being said if you want to read a very confusing and all over the place novel, I hate the internete is the right novel for you.
