The novel “I hate the internet” by Jarett Kobek is about a woman named Adeline. Adeline writes comic books and is very bold with what she writes for the public. She is so bold that she starts to get tremendous hate because of something she talked about over the internet. The whole novel is her trying to make things right because of what she has said . The novel was not my favorite. It was very hard to read. It almost felt like my grandma wrote this trying to get me to realize that me, a “gen z” should not use the internet or rely on it as much as I do. My grandma tends to do this a lot and that’s what I felt when reading this novel. Even other people would agree. It seems like the older people “hate the internet” because they don’t understand it. Even in this video, it is a younger kid teaching his grandma about the internet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBLouggwQx4
People my age probably don’t relate to this novel as much as someone a little older in my opinion. While I do think some parts were understandable like to be careful about what you put out on the internet etc. is a good life lesson. Because you can’t take back what has already been put out there.

In conclusion the book was too messy and all over the place. The author had way too many opinions and it started to not make sense. I think the plot of the novel was good and can see where he is coming from in some aspects but other than that, this novel is a no for me. I was only on chapter one and I felt the negativity. This novel is too negative and too “whiny” for my taste.
