There are many people in the world that go to the Internet to get a variety of information that is not given to them by other means. One of these topics that aren’t really touched upon, specifically in schools, society, and even in some households, have to do with sexuality. We go to the Internet for the answers to these types of questions because it makes us feel safe and believe that the information we are receiving is true. However, not everything on that ends up being online is the complete truth.
Posts on online platforms and pictures or videos that are just floating around on the Internet causes women, as well as some men, to believe that there is a certain way that they should look. It even influences what people come to expect of others; how you are “supposed” to act in any given situation. But not everything is what it is on the Internet. You only end up seeing the best part of that situation, not the bad or ugly side of it.
With easy access to the Internet in today’s society, it makes it easier for many to get this kind of information. It also, however, makes people more impressionable, more likely to change their ways just because of what they’ve seen. It causes people to struggle to get with the “expected” side of them and it affects who they are as a unique individual. The Internet is a great way to get the answers that don’t come to you that easily, but it isn’t always the truth. It sets the so called “standards” for how everyone should be, but that isn’t the case because everyone is their own person, with their own ideals and visions.
